El padre de Natty se ve obligado a aceptar un empleo lejos de la ciudad ya que el trabajo escasea. Natty queda al cuidado de una señora que no demuestra demasiado interés por ella. Cuando aparece el primer problema, Natty se va a buscar a su padre.
